First thing first. Whether you keep your bunny inside or outside of your home, you need a spacious habitat for your bunny.

If you have enough space in your home, you could install a rabbit cage in a suitable place. if you don’t have enough space you could keep your bunny in the outside hutch.

Indoor housing

For indoor housing, you must ensure a rabbit-safe environment to protect your home. Rabbits are clean and adorable pets. They need to run the area for running and playing. For indoor housing, you will need the following supplies.

Rabbit Cage

Most of the rabbit parent allows free-roaming to their bunny inside the house. but you need an indoor rabbit cage to keep them, especially at night. Otherwise, you can not sleep well.

There are two types of indoor rabbit cages available in the market.

  1. Wooden rabbit cage
  2. Wire-made rabbit cage

Wooden rabbit cages are more spacious than wire-made cages. Most of the wooden cage comes with a playpen or run area with a security layer.

On the other hand, were made rabbit cages are comparatively smaller. If you are living in a small home, you could try a wire-made cage. They are easy to handle.

Both wire-made and wooden rabbit cages are easy to clean. don’t think about the cleaning process at all. You just need to select the right one.

Indoor Exercise Pens

Rabbit needs at least 4 hours of exercise in a day. Don’t confine your bunny in the cage always. You could use the puppy gate or wire-made pens.

Select a corner of your home and allow a spacious area for running. You don’t need the exercise pen if your bunny is free-roaming.

Hay Rack

Hay is the major food for the bunny. You must provide unlimited hay to your bunny.

Since it is a long time commitment and hay is a bit expensive in some particular cases, you could use a hay rack to minimize the wastage.

You will find different types of hay racks in the market. main types are:

  1. Wooden hay rack
  2. Wire-made hay rack

Since bunny loves to chew, they will surely chew the wooden hay rack. So, if you buy a wooden hay rack, make sure that that is safe for the bunny.

Chewing is not a problem at all. You should allow chewing. Because the rabbit’s teeth are one of the fastest-growing organs in the animals. That is why they are chewing. It keeps their teeth in normal shape.

Anyway, many of the bunny parents use wire-made hay racks. If you are comfortable with wire-made things, you could use them.

Food and water bowl

Though hay is the main food, they need other vegetables and fruits for nutritional purposes. To offer vegetables and fruits you should use a heavy-bottom ceramic or steel-made bowl.

Many rabbits don’t want to drink water initially. But they need water daily. You could use a water bowl or water bottle for a continuous supply.

I prefer a water bottle to a water bowl. If you are not at home, you just need to fill the water bottle. there is no chance to throw out the water bowl.

Litter box

Litter training is mandatory for indoor rabbits. Otherwise, they will mess up the entire house.

Rabbit tends to poop and pee in the same place. you could use the habit to litter train your bunny.

That is why you need a comfortable litter box. You should choose a litter box with a drawer and a plastic grate. It helps in cleaning.

Rabbit safe litter

Rabbit-safe litter is a mandatory item for the litter box. It is impossible to clean the litter box after pee or poop. Because they are peeing and pooping so frequently.

You could use a rabbit-safe litter. different types of litter available in the market. some litter has a high absorbent capacity and some have a low. Consider the absorbent and odor control feature while buying litter for your bunny.

Outdoor Housing

Outdoor Rabbit Hutch

The outdoor rabbit hutch is comparatively larger than the indoor rabbit cage. Most of the outdoor habitat comes with extra security and additional play areas.

You could consider the durability, weather-resistant capacity, and space to select an outdoor rabbit hutch.

Hutch cover

A hutch cover is mandatory for an outdoor rabbit hutch. Rabbits don’t tolerate high temperatures and humidity. So, during the summer you don’t need to cover the hutch.

But during the winter you should cover the entire hutch to protect your bunny from cold. It would be better to keep the hutch in your garage or under a shed during the rough winter. Otherwise, your bunny will die.

Exercise pen

If you want to use a DIY outdoor hutch, you could use an extra exercise pen in this particular case.

Food

I have already mentioned about food. For feeding your bunny, you could follow the tips. A perfect diet contains
